For twenty-five years I have worked in the fields of Social Work, Psychology, and Education. Despite the fact that our society divides these fields, they actually intertwine. One cannot be proficient at one without
having knowledge of the others.
I have worked with senior citizens,
students, learning disabled adults, sex offenders, and others. After noticing a gap in the services
provided in these fields, six years ago I returned to college to study
education that specialized in adults with learning challenges in the work
environment.
One of my goals was to find techniques that would support
adults with differences. Combining the traditional educational methods of my MS in Counseling, BS in Social Work, and Associate Degree in Mental Health, with the innovative methods I obtained in my Ph.D. in Adult Education, provided me a broad and powerful understanding of the difficulties people with learning challenges experience.
Unfortunately, limited approaches are still being used to work with these adults. The Listening Program® (TLP) has successfully turned this around.
I have completed my TLP training and now work with adults using this
incredible method that not only works with learning differences, but can alleviate the stresses that adults as well as older teens face. |
